PALO VERDE NATIONAL PARK
Pure Nature Private Tours takes you on a country side drive to admire sugar cane crops, melons and cattle ranches that make the drive very panoramic. On the way to the town of Bolson, some wildlife could be found and workers on different crop fields. This compliments a local experience to live the “Pura Vida” that makes the country’s most popular slang. When arriving to the Cipanci Reserve the protected area starts.
An 18,410-hectare park that encompasses different habitats, including mangrove, salty and freshwater marshes and evergreen forests… An enchanting motor boat ride for exploring the bird life of the mangrove forests in a national park.
On this journey, wildlife and forest are the next landscape. Eagle eyes from the crew in charge and participants are going to search for the well-blended creatures. The fauna to look for are monkeys, the white capuchins or howlers are the two most common monkeys in the province. Tempisque river also is a great host for American crocodiles. Some months you can see the baby crocodiles, other months you only see the adults of the young ones. Other animals are lizards, iguanas, bats and the most popular birds.
Palo Verde National Park is a worldwide protected wetland, due to the large number of birds that migrate from North America looking for tropical climate. This means birds come to mate and reproduce. Normally this happens between September and May which is when the adults return to North America, leaving the immature ones here until next May. After the boat experience, we will take you to lunch in a ranch or similar, for a traditional meal. In Costa Rica, the rice and beans are the main diet, but when meals are cooked in a wood stove the flavor changes and gives a much better experience.
The area is close to Guaitil, a town that rescues the indigenous pottery making. Along the road some places have demonstrations on how to make this pottery and they explain the meaning of colors and shapes. This is a very neat cultural experience.
